Chiara Luce Badano was born on the 29 of October, 1971 en Sacelo, Italy. Chiara was a very joyful and beautiful girl, full of life and vitality. She liked to play sports, dance, sing, and to be with her friends. But the Lord called her from this life at a young age, and at only 18 years of age she went to heaven.
She chose not to remain paralyzed in the face of her sickness. Instead, she accepted it full heartedly, living her cancer as her path to heaven. She did not want her funeral to be a sad and hopeless event, but rather the celebration of a her wedding , knowing that she had gone to be eternally with Jesus in heaven. On her deathbed she said to her mother, "Mama, goodbye. Be happy, because I am happy."
