We cannot shut our eyes to the reality: Christians throughout the world, especially in areas where Muslims are the majority, suffer persecution that ought to be defined as “genocide.” As their brothers and sisters, we are obliged by the law of love to help them through our prayers, by spreading the word about what is happening in these countries, and with economic aid.
You can help, too. How?
Pray, and help others pray. Prayer is a powerful weapon. The “Wakeنp Project” offers the help you need in order to lead prayer groups, Rosaries, Holy Hours, etc.
“Prayer before all else. We are Christians, and for us prayer is not beautiful words. It’s a real dialogue with God, which helps us. So, we ask prayers from everyone for the persecuted Christians. There’s no excuse. Everyone can do it. Prayer and sacrifice.”
- Fr. Luis Montes, priest and missionary of the Institute of the Incarnate Word
“I am firmly convinced that the Virgin Mary is powerful and that we will obtain peace through her intercession. I am sure of it. Faith and prayer give me strength.”
- Most Reverend Antoine Audo, Chaldean Catholic Bishop of Aleppo, Syria
Ways you can help spread the message:
- Talk about it with your friends, family, co-workers, priests, youth group leaders, etc.
- Send links to initiatives and videos to your contacts, encouraging them to watch them and share them with others.
- Lead group meetings, catechesis, video forums, etc. using testimonies, thoughts, and questions proposed by our persecuted brethren. More information.
3. Live the faith
In countries where there is religious persecution, Christians live their Faith while endangering their lives and well-being. We, who can go to Church and pray without fear, living our Faith and professing our beliefs in peace and tranquility, ought to be compelled to truly LIVE the truth of the Faith before their example.
“What we ask of Europe is that it not be afraid to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We need a Europe that is strong in Christianity, that is not embarrassed of Christ. What we ask is that each one may live the reality of their Christian Faith, because if they live their Christian Faith, it can change the world for good. (…) The Islamic State proves up to what point hatred in the human heart can reach when it is consented to. It is combatted with the charity of Christ. Charity is all-powerful, because God is Charity. That is why our duty as Christians is to proclaim our Faith, striving to be saints, living charity better with the one who is at our side. This is how we can change the world.”
- Most Reverend Emil Nona, Chaldean Archbishop of Mosul, Iraq
“We have a country to rebuild! We have to maintain this entire mass of refugees: food, medicine, transportation for the school children, schools… Rebuilding entire cities… with little help much can be done.”
- Fr. Luis Montes, priest and missionary from the Institute of the Incarnate Word
