Shannon was born into a Catholic home, but her faith was not deep. Apart from going to Mass on Sundays, her family did not deepen in their faith. Without a relationship with Jesus, as she grew older, Shannon's faith stayed as a merely “social faith”. She became angry with Jesus when her cousin passed away despite her prayers for him, and consequently turned away from Him. When Shannon began university, she began to feel a deep sense of loneliness that brought her to the brink of depression.
